Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamii – Deam’s Coneflower

A close relative of Showy Coneflower (R. fulgida var. speciosa) restricted to Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. Like Showy Coneflower, it’s a little bit taller and more drought tolerant than the commonly available cultivar ‘Goldsturm.’ The flowers are a little smaller but there are more of them over a longer season. Unlike Showy Coneflower, the cauline (stem) leaves of Deam’s Coneflower are similar in shape and size to the basal leaves. Resistant to leaf spot diseases.
