Sarrarcenia x ‘Bug Bat’ – Pitcher Plant – 1-Pint

$11.00

From the Little Bug breeding program of Larry Mellichamp at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, ‘Bug Bat’ actually didn’t “make the grade” and was not included in the series. It eventually found its way out into the horticultural world however. Perhaps its medium-sized height precluded it from being included in a series of “Little” pitcher plants. Certainly its looks shouldn’t have precluded it – it’s similar to ‘Lady Bug’ with green and apple red pitchers and prominent white areoles, even though it’s parents are somewhat different from those of ‘Lady Bug’:Pale Pitcher Plant (S. alata), Parrot Pitcher Plant (S. psittacina), and Hooded Pitcher Plant (S. minor var. okefenokeensis).
