Thelypteris noveboracensis – New York Fern – 3-Quart

$15.00

A widespread, common fern that grows in moist woodlands and the margins of wetlands. It’s an aggressive creeper, forming dense patches over time and rivaling Hay-scented Fern (Dennstaedtia punctilobula) as the best choice for a groundcover among native ferns. REMEMBER, this is an aggressive fern – it can overwhelm more diminutive plants like Hepatica or Crested Iris in a  mixed woodland garden. Unlike some ferns that wither in the heat of Summer and go dormant early in Fall, New York Fern fronds hold up well through the summer before turning a soft yellow in the Fall.  Also known as Tapering Fern because the pinnae are reduces in size toward each end of the stipe.
