Baptisia lactea – Prairie White Wild Indigo – 0.5-Pint

$5.00

Spires of beautiful white flowers resembling sweet pea blooms are produced on thick, stiffly upright stems. The lower portion of the stem is leafless and underplanting with Purple Coneflower, Mountain Mint, Downy Phlox, Prairie Clovers or Butterfly Weed makes for a more effective display. The showy seed capsules look like inflated pea pods and can be dried for arrangements. White wild indigos are a nomenclaturally difficult group. This species is very often listed under the synonym B. alba var. macrophylla, or B. leucantha. It has a primarily midwestern distribution.
