Chionanthus virginicus ‘Spring Fleecing’ – Fringe Tree – 7-Gallon

$105.00

Tarheel Native Trees in Clayton, North Carolina selected this male variety for its profuse flowering, great form and dark, waxy green leaves. Male fringe trees have somewhat larger flowers than females and put on a showier display. The species is native south of our area, from New Jersey to Missouri south to Texas and Florida. Despite its southern origins Fringetree is hardy throughout our area – it’s sometimes listed as cold hardy through zone 4 which would allow it to be grown throughout the Catskills. Given the North Carolina origin of ‘Spring Fleecing’ though, this particular variety may only be hardy in our valleys and lower elevations.
