Filipendula rubra ‘Venusta’ – Queen of the Prairie

$11.00$17.00

Certainly a regal plant, with tall zigzag stems of large deeply lobed leaves and rich pink, cotton candy flowers – en masse this plant is an incredible sight. The flowers provide no nectar, but are still visited by many species of bees that are looking to collect pollen. Spreads by rhizomes and can form sizable stands in moist, fertile soils. Avoid hot and dry conditions or the plant will remain stunted and sad. Good companions are Wild Quinine, New England Aster, Joe-Pye Weed, Prairie Cord Grass, and Narrowleaf Sunflower.
