Ilex verticillata ‘Winter Gold’ – Late Female Winterberry – 3-Gallon

$39.00

This cultivar is unusual in sporting pinkish-orange to golden orange fruits. It originated as a branch sport of ‘Winter Red,’ the most popular cultivar with red fruits. Returning migrant birds often rely on winterberry for sustenance in spring. Blooms late and needs a late-blooming male cultivar such as ‘Apollo’ or ‘Southern Gentleman’ for pollination and fruit production, or perhaps you can rely on wild males if they grow within about 50 feet or so, some claim even 200 feet.
