Ilex verticillata forma ‘Chrysocarpa’ – Early Female Winterberry – 3-Gallon

$39.00

A naturally occurring form with bright yellow fruit which last well into the winter (birds prefer to eat red fruit, thinking yellow ones aren’t yet ripe). Its deciduous leaves drop somewhat earlier than most red-fruited varieties, so the fruit is visible early in the fall. Needs the male cultivar ‘Jim Dandy’ for pollination and berry production, or perhaps you can rely on wild males if they grow within about 50 feet or so, some claim even 200 feet.
