Magnolia x brooklynensis ‘Yellow Bird’- Hybrid Magnolia

$54.00$125.00

A 1981 introduction from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden breeding program involving crosses between native Cucumber Magnolia (M. acuminata) and Lily Magnolia (M. lilliflora) from China. ‘Yellow Bird’ is a cross between the first variety introduced, ‘Eva Maria,’ and a dwarf variety of Cucumber Magnolia (M. acuminata var. subcordata). The result is a smaller tree that blooms a little later in Spring and is rarely damaged by late frosts. The flowers retain their deep yellow hue throughout the flowering period which can last up to 3 weeks, and have a very delicate lemony scent.
