Magnolia x ‘Judy Zuk’- Hybrid Magnolia

The most intensely colored of the yellow flowered magnolias with tones that approach orange. The tulip-shaped flowers are held upright and produce a fruity/spicy fragrance. Named after the late former president of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and former director of the Scott Arboretum who oversaw the breeding program that created numerous cultivars of M. x brooklynensis by crossing native Cucumber Magnolia (M. acuminata) and Lily Magnolia (M. lilliflora) from China. ‘Judy Zuk’ also has Star Magnolia (M. stellata) in its parentage. ’Judy Zuk’ is an upright, somewhat columnar small tree.
