Prunus persica ‘Madison’- Peach – 7-Gallon

$79.00

A 1963 introduction from the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station. You’d think we should avoid planting southern peaches in our area, but the breeders in Virginia used the Michigan variety ‘Red Haven’ as one of its parents and ‘Madison’ has inherited its cold hardiness. In addition ‘Madison’ has exceptional tolerance to blossom-season frost, and it’s considered one of the best peaches for planting in the Northeast. Medium-large fruit with bright orange skin and bright red blush. Orange-yellow firm, fine-textured, juicy flesh with excellent very sweet rich peach flavor. Very good quality. Skin peels easily. Freestone, excellent canner. Very productive tree. Ripens late August to early September in our area.
