Pycnanthemum muticum – Broadleaf Mountain Mint

$6.00$14.00

Strongly aromatic, gray-green foliage, with a fragrance somewhere between Oregano and Peppermint. Flowers occur in clusters that are surrounded by silvery leaves and bracts which cast a beautiful haze over the plant and offer contrast with more brightly flowered companions. The tiny, white flowers spotted in purple are one of the best nectar sources for butterflies, native stingless bees and other beneficial insects. While a common species throughout New England and New Jersey, it is less common in New York, occurring mostly south of us in Orange and Westchester Counties south to Long Island. Like other members of the mint family, this species can run around fairly aggressively.
