Rubus ‘Chester’ – Thornless Blackberry

$6.00$29.00

Considered one of the more winter hardy and productive thornless varieties, ‘Chester’ produces large, high-quality fruit that ripens in early to mid-August. The berries have excellent flavor and do not soften or lose their shiny black color in hot weather. ‘Chester’ plants are vigorous and show resistance to cane blight. Unpruned, semi-erect canes can reach 8’ or more – tip prune them at about 4’ to encourage laterals. Ripens a week or so later than ‘Triple Crown,’ another thornless blackberry variety we carry – try them both to extend your blackberry season.
