Thalictrum dasycarpum – Purple Meadow-rue – 1-Quart

$6.00

An inhabitant of wet meadows and streamsides where it provides a soaring vertical accent and billowing clouds of petalless flowers. In the garden, grow in moisture-retentive soil and provide a little afternoon shade. Meadow-rues are dioecious – flowers on male plants are showier because of their abundant yellow anthers. The ‘Purple’ in the name refers to stem color which is purple when the plant is grown in a fair bit of sun. Meadow-rues with purple flowers are Asian plants – we often have these for sale as well in our non-native shade plant area.

The range of purple meadow-rue is primarily midwestern, with some occurrences in western states, from Michigan to Washington State south to Arizona and Alabama. While itoccurs in New York, the plants are introduced escapees.
