Rubus Prime-Ark® Freedom – Thornless Blackberry

Price range: $6.00 through $29.00

Developed by the University of Arkansas, ‘Freedom’ is the world’s first thornless primocane-fruiting blackberry. Most blackberry cultivars have been developed for southern areas and their floricanes often do not overwinter successfully in our area. That season’s crop is lost. Primocane-fruiting cultivars get around this problem by producing fruits in a single growing season, in the Fall. If a cane does survive the winter it will produce berries in the early summer. ‘Freedom’ has has very large berries with good flavor. It grows upright and needs little or no staking.
