Rubus ‘Triple Crown’ – Thornless Blackberry

Named for its three attributes: flavor, productivity and vigor, this zone 5 hardy variety offers three other attributes: disease resistance, very large berries, and an extended harvest season. ‘Triple Crown’s flavor is an excellent combination of sweetness and tartness. Semi-erect, thornless plants can be trellised or pruned in summer to about 3-4’. This will encourage the growth of laterals that should be pruned to about 18-24” throughout the growing season. Space plants at least 3-4’ apart – further if you are trellising them. Ripens a week or so earlier than ‘Chester,’ the other thornless summer blackberry we carry – try them both to extend your blackberry season. Harvest will often continue after ‘Chester’ is finished.
